Despite it all, we have overcome these obstacles with gusto. And looking back, the road was never easy..but we made it.

i cannot begin to describe the myriad of emotions i have right now, but:

BOCELLI YOU GUYS WERE AND ARE STILL AND WILL ALWAYS BE AWESOME

remember these five days. the bonds, the fun, even the tears, perhaps disappointment. i, for one, will remember how much love i got from you guys on wednesday when i cried from feeding hungry cats. i could just see the worry on your faces, and yanyu's message on tuesday night. (i'm glad you guys were easily appeased, scotto had people who punked their GLs can!)

i'll remember how proactive you guys were, taking the lead yourselves in cheering, in finding strategies for games, in everything else. yanyu's question of WHEN'S BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER before every meal (hey you asked it like more than 20 times okay), mano's enthusiasm, alex's michael sexson, the random sessions of you eat i eat shit, hai dai, marcus super lomantic proposal to junqi (hahahaha), and everyone and everything else.

every moment i spent with you guys was an awesometastic time. i was still filled with worry before camp; what if i got freshies who weren't responsive? but my worry soon faded away when i saw you guys.

thank you, thank you, thank you each and every single one of you, pedro, all you freshies, AGLs, seniors, as well as the main comm who made it all possible.

judging from fb status updates minutes after we get home from camp,

I think we all really love FOC especially us seniors.

Seeing nuraini, wl and all cry just now during the video just shows how much this all means to us.

Really glad that this camp was a

DEFINITE SUCCESS.

despite techinical glitches, forgetfulness, last minute planning, rushing around, lethargy... the list goes on! but im glad we all pulled through and finished this race together.

THANK YOU. everybody was just amazing!

btw if you guys weren't informed,

the photos from camp will be burnt into a dvd, along with the FANTABULOUS ASFV video!!! yay! the only bad thing is that you'll probably only get it during the first week of school so meanwhile you guys can survive on fb pictures! the photos will be photoshopped and stuff (as if the pictures didn't alr look awesome enough)

Hi Scotto Freshies,

You've seen your OGLs (that's Xinyi and I), and you've just gotten to know your AGLs and Seniors Attached (SAs) a little better from our recent post. We're missing out one really important member of the Scotto clan - that's Elizabeth Law, or more affectionately, Liz. She'll be our resident photographer, attached to our OG for all five days of our FOC.

Rest assured that your image is in very good hands and she has been tasked to capture all your wonderful memories over the next five days (and quite possibly, also your more unglam shots as well) Be extremely nice to her, and she'll capture those picture-perfect moments of you. Be mean to her, and, well... let's not go down that road. FYI - she's also the reviews editor for the Nanyang Chronicle, so if you want to find out more about the latest CDs in the market, or what's good in the movies today, she's the one to go to!

H1N1 Update!

Hello freshies and seniors!

MOE has confirmed that there is NO NEED for a 7-day quarantine period after you return from your trip overseas. So this means that you won't have to miss out on any of the fun activities, yay! *Freshies who have indicated that you will be missing out on the first few days of camp due to self-quarantine, please send an email to inform us whether you'd be here for the entire camp duration.

However, please note that should you be feeling unwell (e.g. cough, sore throat, flu, fever, etc.) you will not be able to attend FOC :( In the event that you still turn up for camp, we will send you to the nearest medical centre/polyclinic. So just stay at home to rest okay? When you've recovered you can join us any time!

p.s. remember to bring your thermometers and personal water bottles!

okay, i'm like not an ogl/agl/whatever. but i will be directly involved in the games you guys play and how much we want to 'torture' you guys (: (: (:

and since we're on this note of 'torturing'. (which in truth isn't really torturing because we love you guys and we want you to have the best time possible, so think of this as tough love.) and i'm hoping you guys are all packing or at least about to start packing for camp soon. (:

you already have a list of things to bring for camp. but seeing what nice seniors we are, and how much we want to share this tough love. here's a list of things NOT to bring for camp.

1. ALL other electronic devices other than your handphone. (:
which means ipods, cameras, laptops, psps, nintendos, etc...
ok first think about it. camera and ipods can be covered under handphone. thanks to technology, handphones are fully capable of shooting around 8megapixel shots now, plus you can store music in your phone. so you don't need a camera or an ipod! also! we WILL have professional cameramen & women around the camp. we PROMISE you'll be in at least 50 photos. AT LEAST. so you don't really need a camera do you? if you want any photo taken, can go ask any of those handy dandy cameramen/women to take for you (: laptop wise, facebook is not our live! we will survive! and for those active bloggers, go leave a hiatus sign on your blog if you must (:

this is a camp, there's plenty your seniors have got planned up for you. i doubt you'll even find time to use all those extra electronic devices. use the time to have fun, make friends, gossip (:

2. everything in your wallet
DO bring your camp fees (: that's $60 thanks!
DO bring sufficient cash for transport stuff and one meal. $50 should be more than enough.
DO remember your ezlink card as well. (: with sufficient money in it of course!

but other than that, we don't want you guys to carry around too much cash or money. and we don't want you guys to be burdened with a heavy wallet. leave it all at home. just bring a nice small one enough for 50bucks and an ezlink card (: all but one meal will be provided for. so don't stress over having to pay for the meals. we don't want valuables to be lost,

3. make up & expensive/branded clothes
we girls like to look pretty yes (: and we don't need make up to do that (: (: (: so honestly, 5 days with make up will last.
and we promise loads of fun and loads of games which also = loads of SWEAT. you people honestly don't want to get all your nice clothes dirty. this ain't a fashion show. it's a camp. hence we also definitely promise UNGLAM moments. there's no escaping it. save the new shirt/shoes for school time (:

4. excess baggage
(can you tell i'm starting to run out of things not to bring?) yep, the airlines state carry on is at most 7kg. but i doubt you guys will want to go lugging around even 5 kg bags. so lighten up. bring ENOUGH, not EXTRA. here's how i calculate clothes k, it's 5 days, 4 nights. and looking at the booklet given to you guys, we asked you all to bring min 6 sets of clothes right? let's say i'm a freshie, and mind you i'm super kiasu about clothes, cos i'm always scared it's not enough. i'd bring those 6 sets, no light colors of course, and maybe pack 1 more set. that's 7 sets. only. and it's shirts, undergarments and SHORTS, so like less space. so clothes wise that'll be enough. after that!
- sleeping bag (duh) and
- thermometer (duh),
- flip flops in my bag.
- toiletries = soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush.
- 1 towel
- wallet
-indemnity form (duh!)
- with say 4 pairs of socks. and
- a waterbottle (:

i'm done (: ok la of course girls should pack ahems just in case (: but honestly. don't tell me you can't fit all that into a reasonable size backpack. and i do recommend a cap, uv rays get pretty harmful. but that's pretty much it right? you don't need to pack loads! pack ENOUGH. and i apologise now for treating you guys like primary school kids who've never gone for a camp before. but i realise the older i get the more i tend to pack for camps, so thought i'd just throw this in anyhoo (:

5. a closed mind and a poor attitude.
ok, i'm like out of things already. because i'm not really good with negatives. (: but here's a final one, which i feel is pretty important. your seniors have put alot of effort and time ever since like i don't know, late last year planning for this camp. making sure everything is ready, look at how excited the ogls/agls are. and i'm really excited to watch the asfv video knowing how many nights they spent filming & editing, it's bound to be awesome. we're working hard to make this camp a camp to remember for you guys. it means alot of activities, back to back to back. we will give you time to rest, don't worry we're not slave drivers, but we also want you guys to have the best time possible.

we've done our side, let's make it an AWESOME camp by doing yours (: we're not asking you guys to pay us more money, or be forever indebted to us. what your seniors want is for you guys to have fun. HAVE FUN. some things at this camp may surprise you, but take it with an OPEN mind, take each activity in your stride and STAY POSITIVE. and ENTHUSIASTIC for this camp.

like i said before, we promise unglam moments, but with those unglam moments also promises great fun and memories (: cast aside your pride for a day to be unglam for a moment with friends. one person acting stupid is stupid, but loads doing it together makes it pretty darn fun (:

remember also, we're human, and we did and we will try our best to make this the best camp possible for you guys. some things may go wrong, realistically speaking, even though i honestly hope not. if/when such things happen though, laugh it off, forgive us please (:, stay positive and have FUN anyway.

alright! ends my looonng 5-item-list. . i'm such a longwinded person! i'm sorry!

i also never learnt the art of being succinct. (which i realise is greatly affecting my grades sometimes ): )

Dummies’ Guide to Scotto AGLs & Seniors Attached

Hi Scottot Freshies! This is one half (or rather, one-quarter) of your OGL speaking! Curious about the bunch of senior citizens that will accompany your FOC? In order to acquaint you guys with the AGLs and SAs in Scotto, (more importantly, not be deceived by their *innocent* looks, and not be traumatised by some of their weird antics) I will have to sacrifice myself and write an honest appraisal of them. I will probably get bashed up by some of them after this. :X

1. Supei

Our Scotto Mascot!! Super Supei always saves the day with her lame jokes (which nobody understands - which makes them non-jokes - just pretend to laugh!) which makes her opponents cower in genuine fear. Her unfortunate height (or dis-height, or in-height, or lack-of-height) is due to the strong gravity on the planet of Krypton.

The Supergirl spends her time gambling, sleeping, sprucing up her wardrobe of kiddy disguises and wondering if taller people breathe better air.

Note: Available for rent as an arm-rest. 2 pax capacity only. Otherwise arm rest will turn into leg rest.

2. Jiayi

The Scotto Dancing Queen! I haven’t got a chance to watch her perform but I’m sure her performances are HOT and SPICY! WOots~

Another title that she holds is Blur Queen #2. (To find out who is Blur Queen #1, please scroll down a little ahahaha) Expect to hear a “Huh…..........” when you ask her a question because she needs time to think. You can come back 30 minutes later and she might be at the same spot and maintaining the same sound. Sorry freshies, she hasn't upgraded her internal processor since 1987.

But do feel free to talk to her when you have anything bothering you because she’s always there to lend a listening ear (just remember to return it). As caring as a Care Bear (minus the power rays from the tummy). Aww… But don’t anyhow hug her ok? Must pay money one.

3. Candy

Oh… sugar, maple syrup, sugarcane drink, diabetes. Hahaha. She’s one of the nicest person I've ever met. Oops she just told me not to use the word nice and use terms like pretty and hot instead. But it's ok, I don't lie. :X

Always over-flowing with enthusiasm and suffering from hyperactivity, the only way to stop her is to hold her down and take out the batteries on the back. Like Energizer Rabbit liddat.

Load her up with a pack of fresh batteries everyday, and she will be the one who laughs the loudest. We've already decided to use her laugh as a homing beacon for lost freshies. (Tried and tested for a 400m radius)

Warning to all freshies: Please do not ask her for directions! You will only end up getting more lost. Actually, please don't ask any of the height-disadvantaged seniors for directions. They can't really see that far, and it will be taken as an insult!

4. Kaijie

A bad dream carried over from last year's FOC that everyone would love to forget. Guys were traumatised and girls were put to shame.

After the damning performance, Kaijie was committed to a psychiatric treatment facility and released only after he promised no more cross-dressing nonsense, to the relief of close friends and family.

5. KiaHui

The avid reporter who always seem busy and has a nose for scandalous details. Already working at chinese tabloids and putting her talents to good use.

For juniors who are looking to join our school publication The Nanyang Chronicle, please be nice to her so that she will recruit you! (F.Y.I: Caleb and Jin are in Nanyang Chronicle too!) You guys can bribe her through me! We accept anything from sweets to automobiles. Of course, automobiles carry more currency. That and leg extensions.

6. Jin

The year 3 senior who seem to be in school 24/7.

He's only joining us for 2/3 days so I don’t have to write too much about him. Transient mah!

HOWEVER, life in CS would be tough without the Encyclopaedia of Information. Between ~~facebook stalking, blog stalking and good-old fashioned stalking~~, Jin has built up a far-reaching CS network. 6 Degrees of Separation be damned! Jin can do it in 2!

Edit by Jin: hullo I am not a full time stalker PLEASE! >< And I don't stay in school 24/7 cuz I'm not the ultimate bencher (this is something insider: freshies just ask us during FOC!), just that I'm in almost every school related activity. Personal insert here: Feed me with Chinese indie or local music anytime. :D or transport news. Or maybe even any secrets that you trust me with. I listen better than I speak so maybe that's why juniors all say I'm stalker sigh.

Hello Freshies,

Just to get some of the more boring, though still very important, out of the way; please remember to bring a water bottle to camp, to keep yourself hydrated throughout the strenuous activities we have planned for you all.

If you have personal medication, do bring those along as well.

But most important, come with the right attitude, and a mindset to have fun and make new friends with one another. Use the five days we have together to get to know your fellow cohort mates, and it doesn't hurt to get to know the seniors as well, as these are the people who have gone through what you guys will be going through and have the wealth of experience and the willingness to share and help you along!

The OGLs will be calling you all soon to update you on more details, and to answer any queries you may have, so keep your handphones near you okay?

FOC09 is only a couple of days away. Be excited.

Freshies and Seniors,

Please read through this before you come for camp.

I have received queries from some of you freshmen, as well as some of your parents with regards to H1N1. As you all may have read, with 3 confirmed cases, an NUS camp was cut short and classified as a H1N1 cluster. Letters from concerned members of the public have been published in the papers, with some calling for all orientation camps to be put on hold.

The threat of a H1N1 is very real. Yet there's no waiting for it to blow over; no matter how long a shadow it casts on our lives, we should not let it disrupt our daily activities. If everyone plays their part in exercising individual social responsibility, we can keep Influenza A at bay for our camp.

Campers, I need your help as we strive to keep our camp H1N1-free. There are things you can do to help us before the camp.

A. In the next few days, seniors will be calling you up to confirm your 1) attendance 2) travel history 3) whether you are currently on Home Quarantine Order (HQO) or self-imposed quarantine.

The list of countries with community spread and/or known cases is as followed:

-United States of America

-Mexico

-Canada

-Chile

-United Kingdom

-Australia

-Argentina

-Japan

-Philippines

-Thailand

-Hong Kong SAR

-New Zealand

-Spain

-Panama

-Dominican Republic

-Indonesia

Should you have travelled (including transit) to these affected countries one week before camp (i.e. before 6th July), you will not be able to join us for the camp. This is to avoid putting our campers at risk.

B. If you developed flu-like symptoms or a flu even, please do not valiantly make your way down to school on Monday. Even if it's not H1N1, you will be asked to leave and to join us only when you have recovered.

C. It is utmost important that you bring your own thermometer. There will be temperature taking exercises and there is strictly no sharing of thermometers.

D. Throughout the five days, should you need to leave camp for various reasons, please prepare the information and let your OGLS know. This is for contact tracing, so that we know when and where you left for and return from.

D. Please keep yourselves healthy. Have more Vitamin C, veggies, fluids. Listen to your mom about your eating habits. She is ALWAYS RIGHT.

E. Please avoid places where close contact is almost mandatory. I'm sure you have heard about one of the clusters is a nightspot. The fun you will have at camp is infinitely more than that just one night of partying.

On Monday, when you report to school. This is what you will see:

1. When you enter the school, freshmen and seniors alike will be checked for 1) temperatures 2) H1N1 symptoms 3) travel history. Only when you're cleared, can you then proceed to registration at the benches.

2. Those who have traveled to affected countries in the week before camp will be asked to leave. Those who have high body temperatures i.e. 37.6 degrees Celsius or higher will be asked to leave. Should the need arises, the committee will immediately alert the relevant medical authorities.

3. Under the Infectious Disease Act,
21A. -(1) A person who knows, or has reason to suspect, that he is a case or carrier or contact of a disease set out in the Fifth Schedule shall not expose other persons to the risk of infection by his presence or conduct in any public place or any other place used in common by persons other than the members of his own family or household. [7/2003]

(2) A person having the care of another person whom he knows, or has reason to suspect, is a case or carrier or contact of a disease set out in the Fifth Schedule shall not cause or permit that person to expose other persons to the risk of infection by that person’s presence or conduct in any such place. [7/2003]

(3) A person shall not lend, sell, transmit or expose, without previous disinfection, any clothing, bedding or rags which he knows to have been exposed to infection from a disease set out in the Fifth Schedule, or any other article which he knows to have been so exposed and which is liable to carry such infection. [7/2003]

(4) Any person who contravenes subsection (1), (2) or (3) shall be guilty of an offence.

We are taking this matter very seriously and should any campers be found to be withholding relevant information in a bid to attend the camp would be handed over to the relevant authorities.

Against a backdrop of challenges posed by the YOG, the financial recession and now, the H1N1 outbreak, Seniors have overcome them thus far...putting in months of hard work in preparing this camp just for all of you.

Yet should there be a case of H1N1, the camp will be cancelled immediately. Though we have in place a comprehensive H1N1 directive..still, all these would be in vain, should one of us fail to exercise social responsibility.

hello freshies! (yes this post is meant for you)

things to take note before you come for camp! (no this isn't some dry bring more underwear check your temperature post, although they are also both VERY important right now haha)

1. KEEP AN OPEN MIND.

now this is very very important you know you will tekan a lot right? come on take it in your stride. whatever damn unglam/stupid/ridiculous things you do, you do it WITH your ogs. so it's 28 times as unglamorous/less unglamorous whichever way you want to see it (: (oh btw since i know the number that means the freshies lists in the ogs are OUT i'm holding mine now fellow bocellis-to-be!) just come and HAVE FUN. do the things in the name of fun, and hey, 10 months later you'll really miss doing such rubbish. don't act pai-seh for the sake of not looking overly enthu la please.

2. DON'T GET PISSED AT THE SENIORS

cos we really heart all of you loads you know all of us have been putting in truckloads of effort to make this camp really really good. we won't do it if we didn't love you all! so whatever we do, we do again, in the name of fun! don't come and kill us. (ok this is to protect myself from potential attacks by tired/irate freshies) at least i don't think you all will be getting the raw egg in underpants treatment like pedro got last year. so you can be rest assured (:

3. MAKE NEW FRIENDS.

i cannot stress this enough! seriously, you're here to GET TO KNOW PEOPLE. even though you may come in with people you know from your school/church/workplace whatever, please, don't keep hanging out together! get to know the rest of your og, and get to know people from different OGs as well (: they'll be with you for at least four years, some for the rest of you lives. i know i came out with lots of great friends who make life much much easier in CS for me. you need to know your cohort, they're the ones you partner up with for obscure modules you know no one in for all the projects/filmings/newspaper articles (trust me, we're in CS. we have plenty of those)

4. DON'T BRING PRADA/LEVI'S/FOREVER 21

leave those at home. i threw away shirts after FOC. don't blame us if you have to throw that gorgeous top from topshop away after! eh seriously, it's the only time the guys can appear in ugly singlets, army singlets, shorts and get away with it without the girls griping at them, and the only time you girls can appear in FBTS and floppy shirts and still be deemed human.

(ps, you DID know that CS has a reputation for having the best dressers in NTU right? it's time to go shopping!)

5. TUCK THOSE PHONES AWAY.

here we are trying to rah rah you guys up and there you are typing away furiously to your girlfriends and boyfriends. NUH UH. don't even think about it. and come to think of it, i think we're dangerously close to water all the time *evil smile* you don't want to find your spanking new iphone dripping wet when you're dunked.

6. KNOW THAT WE CARE

well actually we just want to know all about your girl/boyfriend issues. please do tell us ALL about them. you know we are very very concerned about ALL of you (: we are all stalkarazzis who take very much pride in CS stalker culture. so don't try to hide, whoever you are (: (hint, we've all already started stalking all of you. you wouldn't want to know how and how frequent hoho)

So naturally, Freni isn’t really any different, we are the kind of donuts in the donut box that people discreetly elbow each other out of the way so they get first dibs. We are like that last slice of cake that you want so much you would tell your BFF that you think she’s putting on weight so that you can have it.

(Yeah it’s 1238am and I didn’t have dinner today so excuse my analogies. I have a one track mind thanks.)

But anyway, that’s besides the point. We are beyond kick-ass, so take it and go.

This is Walter. You call him Walts cos it saves time and nobody would think you are just thirsty. In the darkest of times, I turn towards him….mainly because he will be the only one I can see. As you can see, Walts here have a distinctive fashion sense and colors are his thing. And I’m talking All Kind Of Colors, even colors you have never seen before in your entire life. The guy loves shopping, and he’d probably own your ass in it.

Hi, you should probably right-click on this photo and save it in your computer for years to come because this is probably the only time you get to see ShiHui in a dress. Athletic, tanned and toned, she could have worked a bikini. But then again, we will never know because hell will freeze over before we will ever see her in one. Frilly girl stuff isn’t her thing, she will rather win you in basketball and she probably will too. And oh, her temper is practically non-existent. Nothing short of setting her house on fire is going to take away the smile that’s always hanging around.

The girl’s into Photography and all things that begin with P. But setting that aside, Lizzie is a limited edition and one-of-a-kind, which is a serious pity seeing how everyone seem to need her for one thing or another in everything- design, drama, photographer, and I can’t keep track. It’s not always a good thing to be so damn apt in so many things sometimes, (that’s why I chose to be selectively skilled HAH.) But moving on with Life, Liz is out resident OG photobug, so she is going to be the one immortalizing all your candid (read: CUI) moments in camp…and posting them. Bribery can be negotiated. Alternatively, you can play kiss-up.

Woots!!! Finally back from Genting =) Sorry for being MIAed until now...
Anyway if you read the previous posts and did your maths, you would have by now realised... (Suspense and drumroll...) there is one AGL missing!!! (Anyway i just discovered that Nuraini actually mentioned it to all of you... so yeah... so much for suspense...) So lets just pretend and act like she did not (I am from paparazzi remember? =P) and let me now formally introduce you to our last AGL!!!!!!! He is none other than........

Our dearest Eldon!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not be intimidated by his seemingly intimidating look of intimidation for he is as sweet and harmless as the little bob of thingy in his hands as shown below.

That thing is christened Bob, and had a wonderful and very peaceful 30 seconds of life until Eldon, finally overcome by his hunger, furiously ravaged and devoured bob in record time and messiness. XD

Overall Eldon is a nice and fluffy person to be with (what i discovered during my few nights stay with him, in the same room, on the same bed, separated by just a thin cover... in genting...) He goes absolutely gaga at cats and babies and other cute stuff.

Anyway in a nutshell Eldon is the sort of guy whom you will say is weird in a nice way, and nice in a weird way. Ok... I refine my statement. He is the coolest guy you will ever meet in your life. I am deadly serious about this.

Oh and he has OCS too. One Child Syndrome. This afliction makes him tend to bursts out into songs and condense long deep insightful sentences into 1 words (e.g. "Ethiopia!" meaning: "There are millions of kids starving in Ethiopia and here you are wasting food." *NO KIDDING ITS TRUE!!!!!)

I totally didn't realise until today when Janie told me, that our OG is extra special because 4 out of 5 of us OGLs/AGLs are part of Paparazzi!

Meet Janie. I first met Janie at what turned out to be another OG's little gathering that I unknowingly crashed, but in retrospect, I'm kinda glad I did. Janie is super sweet and caring, which makes her a great AGL/senior/most importantly, friend. I don't think I've ever seen her angry or irritated before (except maybe when we have to meet Spectrum TV episode deadlines, but who doesn't get irritated at that?) She's always ready with a hug when she sees that something's bothering you. (: Janie is also the girl with amazing music skills, and perfect pitch to boot. She's even better than the guitar-tuning-device-thingy. Aaaaand she can tune guitar, bass and vocals. How awesome is that?! Not only is she a master in creating music, she's a fellow mover and shaker too! She does dance sport in NTU, and is one half of the Eldon&Janie duo.

Here they are all dressed up for their performance! Pretty dress. Pretty SHINY dress.

Don't exploit her gentle nature though! Beneath that sweet exterior, is also someone who is firm and definitely-can-scold-one. Hence, she's our Stage Manager for Paparazzi! (Not saying that SMs scold people lah, but they've got to be on the ball 24/7). She's got skills in the TV Studio as well, yo! (Yes, she's also in Spectrum TV) Always on hand to fix random stuff. I've had the chance to work with her in the room-upstairs-the-studio-floor-when-they-do-all-the-visual-mixing-stuff, and she definitely knows her visual mixing stuff. Much better than I do haha.

Then we have our other female AGL and fellow photographer, Jeanette.

Jeanette was my fellow OG mate during WKSCIFOC'08 and we've stuck through an entire year (and lots more I hope) together. Study buddy/lunch&dinner buddy/late night editing buddy. She's more likely to be found behind the camera, than in front. I remember she had a recent obsession with taking pictures of birds. I wonder what the current one is. NTU has cherry blossom (is it really cherry blossom?) seasons where the petals will fall and cover the ground like snow, except that it's pink, so it's not really snow, and Jeanette insisted on spending one of our lunch periods in the garden so she could go trigger happy. As earlier posted by Kai, she has a twin.

Sooooo cuuuutteeee and innocent-looking, right, these two?

NOT.

Jeanette&Eileen is a force to be reckoned with. They're always the source of scandals. Other people's scandals that is, whether true or otherwise. There have been Job scandals, and Phil scandals and Terence scandals and Kai scandals. I don't think anyone is safe.

I realise that there are so many Raviolis (OG from WKWSCIFOC'08) in this year's FOC, and we're all super close. A lot of good FOC does! You'll forge friendships that will withstand exam stress, assignment stress, different tutorial slots stress and the much-dreaded STARS stress.

Stay tuned for our remaining AGL, for which Zhiyuan will do the honours (hopefully he remembers). ONE WEEK TO FOC! ((:

the above is a picture of my og during our time in camp last year (: this post is for you guys!

ok kai has a confession. i (openly) have an obsession with job. and so does a quarter of the CS population in my year (and up).

i mean, who doesn't love a guy who looks like that? of course, he'll kill me for posting this. he insists on maintaining his emo reputation. but i think we were all a bad influence on him. he is no longer able to maintain his emo-ness. hence you can actually notice that all his photos have him in a huge grin. or some other funny face hahahaha.

some people actually worship him. as seen here, many people. but obviously, you can see he's also of the kiddy-ride spaceship alien sort of erm, species.

he's not very tall. but the point of this photo is to show you what people like to do to him. *cue nuraini: "job, you're so cuteeeeee!* while ruffling his hair. yes, permission granted, ruffle his hair.

oh but do refrain from attacking his neck. his reactions when anyone attempts it is beyond hilarious. wait did i say refrain? oh do it please (:

and don't worry freshies! with him as welfare you don't have much to worry about. unless you're allergic to eggs and tofu. be prepared for ALL you meals to have some of both, they're his staple. but trust him with all else ok? but just in case, you know who to go to if you're dissatisfied with the food, accomodations etc. it's JOB, or JOBBY if you prefer.

and then we have the nefarious twins. (oh so in synch with the theme of ASFV don't you think?)

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR INNOCENT LOOKS. do NOT get onto their radar. on their own, they make us shudder. together, their power is limitless. power to find things to embarrass you, that is. completely non-existent scandals, weird nicknames, so ridiculous-it's-funny accusations, hey they're the ones to go to if you want them.

the trusty man behind the wheels of logs. literally. he's a very safe man behind the wheels of a car (but come to think of it, i've never been in a car he's driving before). trademark longgggggg straps of a shoulder bag and a steadfast presence in ALL lectures. he's NEVER missed any at all, no matter how hard we tried to ~~force~~ nicely ask him to join us in our erm adventures at canteen A.

and then we have job's wife! oh wait, i forgot who's the wife and husband

terence, the other half of the logs pair. he's reliable la, don't worry, despite how unreliable looking he is in this photo. (do keep in mind i tend to look for the most un-nicest photos of everyone else but me) don't even begin to THINK he's quiet okay. he may seem so at first. that, is a FALSE impression. trust me. he can talk the sky down over your ears.

and then we have AINI! ok i shall admit i wrote her description for this blog. every word of it is true! and then we have the aini panic attacks. where she literally PANICS. she will hyperventilate, pull your hands, go bug-eyed, and the by the time she goes onstage/in front of the class to present, she's the best presenter of the day. man, she makes you more nervous than she is! and here we have her right at the front of the photo!

i told you she could pose (: this was our pretty dress day where all of us donned pretty dresses to school! well except the guys of course. zeddy came with the theme in a nice shirt okay, with collars and buttons and long sleeves. (oh did i ever mention zeddy looks damn good in nice shirts??)

ok i've spent like the better half of my day staring at this and thinking of what i want to say about these few. i may do a few more for the rest of the ravis hoho. but really, it depends on whether inspiration strikes me or not.

If I were a girl, I would totally date Sufiyan Sulaiman. I first met my trusted AGL in my own OG one year ago as well. Why did we click so well? bcos we both believe in taking a slower pace in life, sitting back and laugh at the rat race instead or joining in.

Together, we were the most awesome pair of game-pwners, act-retarders, ~~bed-mates~~, and even fellow comrades in CI club.

This self-proclaimed mut, also happens to be the ONLY Malay guy in our batch. Upon first glance, Sufi looks like a punk rocker. But he does have hidden side....

Beneath this exterior is actually a very sensitive soul. In fact, he used to have sensitive emo-long long hair. (which he had to straighten every morning).

But really, Sufiyan is totally lovable. Here is just shortly after our own orientation when our whole OG planned a surprise birthday for him at his hall. But… he went out on a date, leaving the whole OG to wait for 6524322 hours ++. But its okay, we all love Sufi.

Why is Sufi a great AGL? Becos he is a master or the art of kick-ass chillaxing. Confused? You’ll see what we mean during FOC. Sufi will teach you how to become totally enthu and yet cool at the same time.

But seriously, in all sincerity, Sufi is one of the most fun-tastic seniors to be around. If you are alright with bucket loads of laughter and nonsense, pray that Sufiyan Sulaiman is your AGL!!

Grace (The never-to-be-woken-in-time-for-9am-class shopaholic): Don’t be fooled by this demure looking girl. Mention the word SHOP and her eyes immediately light up and she’s all raring to go. Capable of literally shopping till-you-drop (you referring to shopping partner, not her). DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT shop with her unless you have had prior training. She also epitomizes her name; hall cheerleader, former ballet dancer, the works. OH, and she’s the one to go to if you need a dash of JUICY GOSSIP.

Hello Freshies (actually, for Seniors as well)! Sorry to be a spoilsport, but we really want to be responsible students (plus we probably won't appreciate the dubious honour of being the 4th cluster), so it's important for you to sit down and pay attention...

Ok? Here goes:

NTU has just sent an advisory with typical NTU-like caution(ah those wet blankets) regarding H1N1 (the 10th+ circular, complete with temperature taking exercises VIA the internet).

Apparently, all students who have just returned from H1N1 affected areas are to self-quarantine for 7 days. Meaning if you go overseas to these areas from 29 Jun - 6 July, you can't come for camp! Really! No kidding! If you do, we'll send the police, STARS team, even Chemical Defense on you! You'll be exposed as an irresponsible citizen on STOMP! It's not worth it!

Of course, that's not true. We really do love you, and want you to experience the camp we've specially prepared for you! But it's really for everyone's safety lah. We promise we'll be extra nice to you guys when school starts k? :)

The affected areas for now are:

Americas: Argentina, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, USA
Europe: Spain, United Kingdom
Asia-Pacific: Australia, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Japan, The Philippines, Thailand

Even better than the other sample you guys saw in fact, because its 100% dri-fit including the yellow binding.

The one above is an M by the way. If you didn't order it and you're having mild/severe pangs of regret at the moment, well ~~too bad~~! Okay lah. We did order a very teeny weeny itsy bitsy number of extras. (So teeny I can count them with my fingers.)

So if you still want one, it'll be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis!

Okay, in response to the fast incoming panicked queries regarding the size of the singlet, Lizzy has once again abused the use of her DSLR to take the sort of pictures no one should even be taking at home (and feeling rather stupid while doing it). Ignore all the white spots or whatever spots. I doubt my mirror has ever had the privilege of being cleaned. And I even changed out of my black FBTs for clarity's sake.

presenting to you..the five facts of SCOTTO OGLS!

XINYI!

1. As the OGL profile page in this blog states, she’s a #1 AMEI FAN. In fact, try this: say “AMEI” randomly when she’s not paying attention to you. I guarantee a reaction/response.

Oh, and this girl can sing. Awesomely. Now you know what to do for OGL forfeit or anything that may come up.

2. She gets distracted very easily, give her mp3, she don’t need to do anything else already. Give her her laptop (which always hang), she’ll do everything on it BUT the thing she’s susposed to do.

3. A commonly used phrase of hers is 神经病, but she’s probably referring to herself lah, or her co-OGL Caleb who is a lot more 神经病 than he looks.

4. She may look small in size, but do not underestimate her ability. She can be very fierce, although 99% of the time xinyi’s happy-go-lucky and will always cheer up your day. :D

In the remaining 1% of the time, she eats people! (aka her tuition kids.)

5. Most of the time she’s harmless, cos she’s super blur, like me! Scotto freshies- It’s better to trust Caleb on directions etc.

CALEB!

1. Like me, caleb likes to eat and sleep.

2. He claims to flirt more with guys and have gay relationships, but it just means he’s very faithful & sweet to his other half (who is a girl)

3. He’s 24 years old (call him old man), but acts as like 3.

I can’t even keep track of the number of times he told me, “I dun friend you”, or the childish conversations we have. This implies 2 things. One, he’s very childish. Two, he’s very bully-able. (although he bullies people also lah, so beware.)

& TODAY IS ALSO HIS BIRTHDAY!

wish him happy birthday and he'll try to be nice during foc. (:

4. An avid football fan! He’s one who would stay up till 5am to watch football matches on a school night and one who would play soccer with an injured ankle.

5. PS: you can call him slut, he doesn’t mind. (: we have very affectionate nicknames for each other.

That being said, both xinyi & caleb are awesome friends to both talk crap with and who will be there for you. (: As I promise them not to post –cough- unglam –cough- scandalous photos, and because we are all really nice people, here are some PG photos to tell you who these funky people are! xD

HAYY FRESHIES.

This will be my first non-work related entry in which I'm actually not nagging at anyone to hand in anything! (But pls do register or face the possibility of over/undersized tshirts!)

Anyway this is a FRENI related post from your friendly Freni senior Lizzy! Fwooooot!

Me and the orientation machine (Mr Tay LIDE) were editing in school today, and Lide REALLY REALLY like REALLY REALLY wanted to get that $27.90 Sideswipe Transformers toy that he's been raving for since like, weeks ago.

So we made a detour to Jurong Point (freshies you will unwillingly and unwittingly become very familiar with that place after a while) after the lab closed to go to Comics Connection, where, *drumroll*... Sideswipe was SOLD OUT.

So we walked into Kiddy Palace. (Quote Lide: I can't believe I'm walking into Kiddy Palace).
Full shelf-full of Transformer toys... but no Sideswipe!

(But he really, really, like really really wanted it.)

So guess where we ended up.
City Hall. And to Robinson. Again, no Sideswipe.

So we walked to Suntec City, hopeful that Toys'r'us (since it's Toys'r'us) would definitely have the precious loot... However. EVEN TOYS'R'US DIDN'T. (They did have the $219.90 Bumbleebee and $109.90 Optimus Prime that I drooled over though, hinthint.)

Last choice.

We walked into Carrefour.... (Lizzy muttering at this point in time that if here don't have then NO HOPE LIAO.)

AND.
There were almost no visible Sideswipes in sight.

Then Lide did the most uncle thing I have ever seen him do. And I've seen him do MANY uncle things in this lifetime:

He put down his backpack, went down on his knees, and started rumaging through the hidden bottom stack of Transformer toys for Sideswipes.

(You see Sideswipe in the bottom right because we placed him there after we finally re-packed everything neatly.)

We ended up with this:

(Lide looking darn pleased with himself after unearthing so many Sideswipes. 9 to be exact.)

We then spent the next 5 minutes comparing them to see which had the best paint job.

Then, Frenis, your GL, decided to be really GL (if you know what I mean). And started replacing every rack's toy with our newly discovered Sideswipes. (Which I still can't believe they intentionally hid away!)

Mission complete. Sideswipes for everyone! Yay! :)

So if you're a Transformers fan, go get your sexy Sideswipe before it runs out everywhere.
If not, just know that Lide will stop at nothing to get his heart's desire. (HAHA)

Secrets to an Uber Awesome FOC!

As a senior who thoroughly enjoyed wkwsci's FOC last year, i feel obliged to share with YOU freshies some secrets for you to cruise towards a super uber awesome FOC! Shhhhhhh! (okay its also coming from someone who crazily attended 3 different foc's last year. not recommended unless you have unlimited energy and good self control. haha.)

1) Pretend you're in a colgate commercial.

For goodness sake, smile! Drop your ice queen/king image and be friendly! Nothing breaks the ice more than a lovely smile. Otherwise you might find yourself really freezing alone during lectures once term starts. (note for the guys though, dont smile too much at each other)

2) Dance like no one's watching.

Lose your reservations young ones! Even if it means doing things that could potentially traumatize and ruin your life in sch for the next 4 years. Forfeits are fun. The best part is, no one remembers. really ;). So go ahead and loosen up! You probably only get to do this once! As a media student, it's good to collect experiences.

3) Forgive and Forget!

A lil friendly competition isnt gonna hurt. After all, no one's gonna hate you for scratching him during a game, smashing water bombs into his face, cheating his feelings, or scaring the ass outta him. (honestly, non of the above took place, they're just erm... illustrations). Oh yes, this applies for the seniors as well k. Don't dart killer looks at us when we walk past you next time.

4) Fun favors the prepared.

Pack adequately! Bring enough.... yea undergarments. You can never have enough of those. Better to bring a lil more and be kiasu than regret it later on! Fun favors the prepared! Oh yes, remember to leave most of your valuables at home. Most importantly, prepare yourself for lots of fun!

5) Talk to me (seniors), Tell me your name (ok more than that).

Even when we are glaring and looking like we're gonna eat you up, talk to us. Deep down, we're really nice and friendly. haha. But seriously, we're here to help integrate you into school life. After all, who else will know which modules to take, which profs to avoid, where to buy bubble tea from, wheres the best place for dinner and the secret corners where you can dance away without anyone knowing.

6) "Shit, i forgot to bring my hp!"

Well at least thats what i hope you'll say. ahaha. Just drop your hp when you can. it really sucks when everyone's sitting around chatting and a few pple are smsing away.

Practice the above secretly and im sure you'll have the awesome-st FOC ever. Ssssshhhhhhh

Pavarotti Vol. One

Hi Freshies!

It's about time that the OGLs of Pavarotti make their presence known on this blog, isn't it? Haha. You guys should totally come for FOC (how come the numbers only 40+ ah? This CANNOT do!) because it's such an awesometastic experience. You get to meet and make new friends and bond with each other waaaay before school starts, you get to play games all day, and you get to meet wonderful seniors who will make your transition into uni life that much easier. And most importantly, you get to have so much fun during FOC! (: Those of you who haven't signed up, please do before registration closes, and the T-shirt size orders go for printing. Trust me, you do not want to be wearing a shirt that is not in your size.

Anyhoo, HHHHIIIII!!!!!!! (Yes it's true that I'm always on a self-induced high. It's not that hard actually. Lots and lots of sunshine helps!) Let me introduce myself. I'm Nuraini, one of the OGLs for Pavarotti (let's just pretend my partner Zhiyuan is also here okay). I love to sing, act, dance - I love the stage! That doesn't mean I like to steal the spotlight though. I promise I'll share. :P

In Year 1, I was a vocalist for my hall band, which I'm very sad to leave if I cannot get back into hall during the next rounds of allocations. I am also very sad that I have not been able to go on package-delivering adventures due to my holiday stint working for the government. I feel so cool that I can say my work is "Classified Information".

The OGL pairing for Pavarotti is extra special, because it turns out that we're both the producers for the annual CS drama production, Paparazzi. It's called that because we're cool that way and everyone wants a piece of us in action. We're both very into drama-related stuff. And we're also involved in Spectrum TV, which is the campus TV programme produced by CS students.

Here's a picture of us on set.

Zhiyuan has hosted a couple of episodes, while I've worked behind the camera, at the autocue, done outdoor reporting, and even been a guest on an episode! Spectrum TV is fun and really gives you invaluable experience.

Zhiyuan takes film and broadcast even further. Besides being one half of a famous pair who consistently kept reappearing in our one-minute video assignments (see, he's a good actor too!) he's also a budding film maker!

They won second prize for an AIDS video competition. Also in this picture are our AGLs, Eldon and Janie, and Zhiyuan's other half Mingyi, who's also our treasure for FOC. We're all a very interconnected family. Hehehe. Eldon and Janie are partners in NTU Dance Sport. Which means they do lots of couple salsa/latin dance moves. Which Nuraini CANNOT do because the idea of a guy leading is weird. Which makes Janie very cool because she lets Eldon do this.

Zhiyuan is also the guy who cannot burst a balloon, and cannot, for the life of him, hit his intended target with a water bomb. After going through all his water bombs, he still could not get my hair wet. Therefore, you freshies will definitely have a clear advantage. Don't give him mercy, just whack! :P

So, this is just a short teaser of the dynamics that exist within Pavarotti. Most of the time, I'm able to tolerate Zhiyuan (hey, I've been stuck with him since last September, and will be sticking til this September AT LEAST!), as he's pretty harmless. Remember, you guys have the advantage if you have a water bomb in your hand! Hehehe. We also have another AGL (because really, we're special that way) Jeanette, who's currently braving the jungles of Indonesia, that you can be sure will capture all the endearing unforgettable memories of your FOC experience.

Do sign up for FOC - it'll be so awesome-possums-tastic that you'll still be talking about it waaaay after it's over.

Also, do say tune for CS Paparazzi - a night of madness that is definitely not to be missed! (:

Harloooooo, this is a public service announcement.

The trying-and-failing-to-stop-being-overworked lizzy speaking.

All freshies who are still delaying to register, I highly recommend you registering for FOC now! (now now now!)

Non-practical reasons aside, it's mostly because we're going to send the shirts for print this coming Tuesday, 23 June 2009 which is an entire week before the registration deadline. So if you wait till the very last minute to register, you will not get priority for the shirt size you indicate. (So all of you either have to wear XS or XL hor!)

But rly, just register okay. :D

If it helps, this is the size chart which I koped off last year's FOC blog (HAHA).

Hope you freshies who are livin’ it up in the East have received your packages!! If you haven’t, fret not! It’s coming! Delivering the packages was definitely a challenging task albeit the fact that denise and I were armed with a GPS (which sometimes made us travel in circles). But despite stopping traffic (and nearly causing a jam) at a U-turn at the central divider where denise screamed her lungs out as the huge-ass car hit the kerb twice, we had much fun distributing your packages! HA! Anyway, we just wanna post a shoutout to those whose homes we visited (Hi Joel, Haoquan, Xiang Yun, Chay Teng & Grace! Do come for FOC!!!! As for Xue Fang, we hope you’ll have a speedy recovery!). It was nice meeting your grandma, maids, dogs (which were often first to answer the door), mum and you! HELLO FRESHIES ALONG THE NEL + yishun areas!

oh gosh, same story as tampines in sengkang/punggol/serangoon/yck/yishun/sembawang!

( hahaha ok that makes it sound like ash and I went to a lot of places! )

Although most of you weren't at home (in fact we only actually spoke to 1 in 21 stops), It was nice seeing where you guys live! (we won't stalk you no worries)

There were some really high security places where ash sneaked it alongside a car! (was rather worried that my dear navigator would get stuck in the condo) There were interesting places like the undergroundish houses @ yishun! There were some very annoying lifts/ buildings - We took lifts to the 6th floor, and walked down 3 floors to the 3rd to realize we could have just walked up 2 floors instead. Oh and there were very confusing streets aka the compassvale street, avenue, drive, crescent or something. Singapore really needs more road names!

but ultimately it was fun to deliver the packages to you! talk to some of your parents and scare a grandmother or 2. :X hope you liked the package!

The Mysterious Brown Envelope in TAMPINES

Hello TAMPINES freshies!

Your darling seniors—Evadne, Walter, Job and Terence—braved some horrendous humidity in our one-night stint as a postman.

The package? The Mysterious Brown Envelope, jam-packed with loads of goodies and fresh out of the oven. And no, don’t worry it’s not going to be some white-powder scare.

Our round-Tampines tour yesterday was, well, interesting. Following the poor hit rate of among the Centralites on Tuesday, who did their rounds starting 9am in the morning and therefore waking up a few poor souls who were sleeping while missing the working crowd, we were slightly more optimistic of our chances. Going about in the evening, we were so optimistic that most would be back home from work or wherever else you might be!

And here’s a number crunch to sum things up:

38209 Cats spotted
948 Dogs spotted
203 Flights of steps climbed (ok fine we used the lifts most of the time)
12 Apartments visited
10 Parents met (rough estimate here)
6 Apartments along the street 21 and 23 stretch; you all will have loads of MRT company when term starts (and I happen to live around the area too :@)
4 Freshies who were overseas when we came knocking
3 Hours delivering, excluding dinner
2 Plates of chicken rice ordered
2 Parents who exclaimed how we “actually came all the way to send the packages”
>1 Guy that The Serial Slapper claims to have slapped in his/her entire life

Okay reading Junqi's post makes me feel guilty cos I've spent the whole day riding around in a car again :s Haha this time it was with Jeslynn, who's another awesome driver (with a car that beeps incessantly if you don't wear your seat belt)! Too bad she had a lousy navigator like me. Oops? Haha I guess it was also partly because neither of us are familiar with Sengkang & Punggol. Well, but at least after 8 hours of swerving, illegal U-turns and parking in season lots, we made it to 21 of your houses in the north and north-east areas! Do note though, that there are others who are also doing deliveries in those places so do not panic yet if you've not received yours. Patience is a virtue! Be virtuous! :p

[If you haven't, give them a few days or email us!]

HELLO FRESHIES!

(following up on the tweet which I have no idea who tweeted)

If you live in AMK, Bishan, Toa Payoh or Selegie area, you would have received your orientation packages today from your fellow centralites/Bishaners known as Job, Lide, Wee Koon and Ash! (Thanks also to Kia Hui and Eldon who wanted to help but could not make it on short notice...)

While most of you weren't home (hopefully you were working and/or leading a more productive life than me) it was nice meeting all of you who were, as well as your maids, sibilings, parents, grandparents, dogs, rabbits, turtles and err, frogs.

Oh and if you live in aforementioned areas but had no one at home today, please check outside your gate for the package. If it's gone, suspect your neighbours :p Although it could simply be that we mixed things up. As seen from the hand-drawn map below, some of us *cough* Jeslynn *cough* aren't very good at geography and think that S'pore is diamond-shaped.

Anyway, the four of us took a total of only about 7 hours to cover all 22 of you in the central region (including a prata lunch stopover at Thomson), thanks largely to Lide's superb driving skills, esp along all the one-way streets. Please note that it's also his birthday today! *Applause* This is some serious FOC dedication, people.

Some of you may be wondering why we're hand delivering all the packages. Well, firstly, we want to give a personal touch to this, and we also want to ensure that all of you have received the pack. It's very easy to stick on a couple of stamps and send out the stuff (esp when we have them in envelopes this year), but we wanted to do more than your average FOC comm, just as our seniors did for us last year. We hope you appreciate it, and sorry to all those that we woke up at 9 plus am or so. Haha many of us don't wake up that early on normal days as well, I promise!

Okie dokes. Heard that there was some delivery action going on in the West as well today. But as for the rest, do be patient. You'll get your stuff soon. See ya when we see you!

The special edition, black & yellow TUMBLETEE© will sell at SGD$8 and is open to ALL wkwsci seniors! The singlet will be worn during the Sentosa leg of the camp.

The singlet is available in sizes XXS (34) to XXXL (48). The width of this is similar to the Wee Tees if you own them, so please don't order too big if you don't want to look like you're wearing a nightgown. :)

my navigational skills are as precise as a goldfish because... i am descended from one. omg did i really just say that?? ok kai does not make sense most of the time. and the lemur face not not even vaguely resemble a lemur! oh but hehe yes i can fly. like because nuraini (and the rest of my og from last year, for that matter) believes that my head is full of clouds, and clouds are in the sky, which means i am always floating in the sky...

ok stop stop stop. one thing i do like about ped's post would be the shopping hehehe. BUT, NOT TRUE that i can clear vivo in 15 mins. where's the joy in that?? slow and steady wins the race. Wow. This is too much, we all learnt from econs that Monopoly is bad. So move over Frenni, Bocelli is going to hog some screen time here.

Firstly, this entry is meant for all potential freshies, whether or not you are coming to Bocelli =D cos it's good to know your seniors =D

I am Pedro, the GL (guy leader) of Bochelli. My dearest partner and I planned to write a collaborative entry but in the end I procrastinated one whole week. handicapped by our short attention spans, I will be using the ancient mystical method of anything-goes blogging style.
Firstly, I would like to clarify something. I do NOT have a vaguely- hot -bod. The webmaster Lizzy is just being insecure that other girls will flock to me. I don't blame her *pat pat*, cause even though I might have a vaguely-hot-bod, I have a clearly handsome face.

And so, this entry is meant to give you a better insight into the 2 GLS from Bocelli. Helping the friendly Pedro would be his wonderful partner, Kaishi. (call her Kai)

It seems that this blog is profiling Kai as a bimbo. I would like to stress that this is not entirely true. I believe that Kai might be a very optimistic and happy girl who is always full of energy, but this doesn't make her a bimbo. Many other things do.
You can trust in her to lead in FOC... but freshies... please take the lead during treasure hunts. Kai 's navigational system is as precise as a goldfish's.
"huh? isn't Lim Chu Kang next to Choa Chu Kang?"

But I am very thankful to have her as my partner because she is like so constantly full of energy. Did I mention that she is a dancer? Aha, another info tidbit for you! Kai is a gymnast turned dancer . Here is her at an alumni dance. Apparently, as you can see, Kai also has the gift of flight.

The best part of having Kai as your GL is that she will always cheer you up with her comedic antics. Sometimes she makes me scatch my head, but more often than not, I end up bowling over in laughter.
The feature I like MOST about my dearest partner is what I term, the lemur face. I noticed it after she acted in one of her movie assignments and even since then, it got stuck in my head.
Whenever Kai is distressed or shocked, she would display the lemur face.

Haha.... but don't be fooleeed. Kai is mean and bad..... when it comes to shopping. I've heard that her shopping skills are legendary, with the ability to clear Vivocity within 15mins. Mwahahah. Of course, these are all just legends.

But speaking of shopping, our OG has someone else who can rival the power of Kai. No... its not me ( I suck at shopping, according to Lizzy) but its our AGL (assistant Group Leader), Grace. We'll talk more about her and Sufi, our other AGL in the next episode =D

A few things to say:

I DO NOT wake up at 8.15am to attend an 8.30am lecture.
I wake up at 7ish.
I achieve the above by sleeping before 11pm every night.

Yes, I have a ~~weird~~ different lifestyle but it works fine for me!

From this, we can safely conclude that rare species like me are still in existence & that such a lifestyle is still acceptable! :D & of course, I stick to such a sleeping pattern during the holidays!

Hello everyone! Say hi to this cute little kitty that I once almost sat on in the lounge at Hall 13. While I will no longer be living in hall next sem due to NTU's ~~strange~~ unique method of allocating hall points, chances are that many of you freshies will be. For some, it may be your first time living on your own and you may have many questions on what hall life is like. We seniors are more than glad to answer all your queries so do feel free to ask us anything whether here, on FB, or at the camp.

We have Evadne, who can share with you her methods to avoid the cute little puddy cats (she's scared of them); We have Nurbaya, who can share with you her experience of waking up at 8.15 for a 8.30am lecture (her hall is right next to CS); And I can even point you towards one or two seniors who lug home 5 days of laundry every week because they are too lazy to wash their clothes in hall.

So yeah, to end off, I just want to say that we are here for you guys if you need any help adjusting to uni life. Because FOC, is more than a camp :)

Hieee to all potential Frenis in the making!

This is your neighborhood fren-ly (ooh excuse the pun I couldn't resist HAHA) b&js scoopy talking!

My dearest (and trust me, I hold him very very dearly to my heart...so very much that me thinks i'm developing heartburn) pard-nerrr has insisted we get the jump on everyone and christen this blog with this first OGL post.

But because not many of you know about this space yet and mainly because IamveryhungryIneedfoodnowthanks, this is going to just be a tiny little teaserr about us.

So as you see in the photoshoot (please ignore 3 very enthusiastic programmers in the photo tyvm), we share a very cordial and pleasant friendship, based on mutual respect and genuine friendly affections for each other.

But... take away the starched white shirts, camera crew, bright lights and Darlie smiles,

there is this undercurrent of...something else. Sigh, love/hate relationships such a complexity...Granted there are times I would like to throttle him with my hair and he would love to sit on me, but.... WE STILL TIGHT YO.

Lide (KUNG FU PANDA): He has bungeed in New Zealand, raided massage parlors in Toa Payoh, and mambo-ed in a panda suit. But his one weakness lies in Dragon Gate Dim Sum. His sheer size, enthusiasm and volume have earned him the nickname of “the Orientation Machine”. You’ll soon realize it is impossible not to feel at ease around one of the most fun (and huggable) seniors in school. If you fail to laugh in his presence, you have no sense of humour.

Tze Min (THE ACCIDENTAL KLUTZ): When she walks, the wind blows and the angels sing. Then she trips, falls, and her hair gets messed up. Suddenly the angels go out of tune. Little Miss Congeniality here digs Ben & Jerry’s for a living. That explains two things: Her saccharine personality, and how she can’t lift much else besides ice cream. Offer at every available opportunity to zip up her bag.

Pedro (THE VAGUELY HOT BOD): He works in the zoo, loves his Wee Tees, and utilises more army equipment than any Singaporean male should. His jokes fluctuate from vaguely funny to absolutely lacking in humour (ed. However, Weiliang remains the King of I-Can-Stop-Global-Warming Cold Jokes), but remains one of the most enthusiastic and gungho persons in school. Practical jokes are his forte, but he usually ends up being the only one who laughs at them.

Kaishi (THE FORGETFUL BIMBO): Onstage, Kai exudes effortless grace, composure and heartfelt emotions. Offstage, she's affectionately dubbed 'bimbo' by her close peers. Known for getting lost, asking for directions, and still getting lost after her first week in school; klutzy and forgetful behaviour has been coined as 'doing a Kai'. Bimbotic nature aside, this brilliant dancer exudes a bubbly personality that is definitely contagious.

OGLS: Zhiyuan & Nuraini

Zhiyuan (THE INTENSE ACTOR): This FOC, Zhiyuan will make valiant attempts to outwit, outplay and outlast the other three male OGLS even though the four of them have been long-time best buddies. They have yet to get back at him for abandoning them since getting attached to *cough*Mingyi*cough*. This long-time actor is also active in the Hokkien Opera scene and was even an extra on The Little Nonya!

Nuraini (THE AWESOME-LY TALL SINGER): Awesome also refers to her voice; she's got one that can bowl you over. make sure she sings for you. Make her pose too, she's fantabulous. Helps that she's watched just about every episode of america's next top model *cue her voice: the next episode is out!!!* a drama queen of epic proportions with tons of drama experience. She also happens to be perennially on a self-induced high. All you freshies, you have been warned.

OGLS: Caleb & Xin Yi

Caleb (THE CANNOT STOP LAUGHING ONE): Behind the huge grin of the cutest OGL (very very strongly contested), is much more than meets the eye. He has the maturity (of a 8 year old), the suavity of James Bond (‘s Filipino tut-tut driver) and speaks impeccable Mandarin (by Russian standards). Don’t fret if you can’t find him. High chance he’s at the nearest duck rice stall. Asking for chicken rice.

Xinyi (THE FUN-SIZED OGL): Say hi to Dr. Xinyi (PhD) where laughter is the best cure for… anything (hahaha rofl). She is a good doctor too, cause good things come in small packages.

Fear not, you are not forgotten! just, lost or just unfortunate. :X Just drop us an email at wkwscifoc09@gmail.com containing your name and roughly where you stay, we'll double check for you. Meanwhile, if you're free from 6-10 july, do register for camp via the link on the sidebar or drop an email. We could make an exception or 2. (:

How and when do I pay the $60 for the camp?

You could pay us in cash on the first day of camp. Besides that don't bring too much money/valuables around. camps and valuables just don't mix. (:

Could i leave in the middle of FOC if i have something going on?

Try not to because it is a 5 day camp and you wouldn't want to miss out on any action!! If you really have no choice just tell your OGL on the first day of camp, he/she will let you know where we are when you come back (we won't be in 1 location for all 5 days). Generally, we'll be in NTU, sentosa or east coast, if you want more specific details, drop an email!

What precautions are the committee taking with regards to H1N1
Pre-Emergency Planning
Campers’ Travel History:
During registration, campers are to declare their travel history for the past one month. The Committee would refer to the list of affected areas updated on the Ministry of Health website. As of present on 3 June 2009, the list is as followed:
i. Mexico ii. USA iii. Canada iv. Melbourne & the state of Victoria, Australia v. Kobe and Osaka, Japan vi. Chile

The Committee would follow up on campers who have visited these countries in the past month prior to the camp. They would be asked as to whether they have fulfilled their home quarantine orders.

Incident-Response
Levels of Emergency Response
LEVEL 1:
Medicine would be administered to campers that fall ill and exhibit flu-like symptoms. They would be monitored and will be sent back home if requested.

LEVEL 2:
Despite the administration of medicine, the fever / flu persists. The patient(s) is then sent to the medical facility. The Resident Medic, Chairperson and Welfare Officer will assess there is an outbreak amongst the campers.
If the said patient is diagnosed with H1N1 and deemed contagious, the Chairperson would make the decision to break camp.
LEVEL 3:
5 or more campers are ill with flu like symptoms. The Resident Medic assesses the situation and deemed that professional medical treatment is necessary. The Welfare Officer would engage the relevant emergency services. The Chairperson would make the decision to break camp.

HALL

Should I stay in hall?

Personally i think that if you live more than an hour away, you should stay in hall at least for the 1st sem to just try it out. You get priority and will definitely get hall in year 1. It's rather tiring to travel via public transport and make 9am lectures. :P

Some say an active hall life is inversely proportional to good grades, is it true?

There are 3 groups of people, People who are super active in hall and spend almost all their time in hall and hardly at home but have lots of fun participating. People who don't stay in hall much and dedicate their time to people outside of hall (like school or gf/bfs) or to studying and there are people who can really balance both studying and hall life (sufficient to stay in all in year2) . It all boils down to how much you want to study really and has nothing to do with how active you are. Though hall does tend to make you sleep as late as 4am so be prepared if you really want to jump into hall life fully. CS just makes you sleep at 3am. :P

What's hall life like?

It's an experience! cleaning up your own room, washing your clothes, bedsheets, hanging them out and even ironing it, getting your own dinner everyday, living with a friend... If you have never done all that then it's quite a good experience (it tells you what the state of your future house will be! ) It' quite fun being surrounded by friends and waking up at 8 plus for 9am lectures (plus no long tiring mrt/bus rides) , especially if you get hall7... waking up 8.45am for 9am lectures! :D 5 mins if you walk across, 2 mins if you run. (:

hall life is great as with school life :) depending on which hall you go to, your involvement could vary. the Inter-Hall Games season is fun! but a balance needs to be achieved between your studies and having fun. uni is probably the last place you can really enjoy yourself, so you must play hard! but if you want to have at least a chance at enjoying your working life as well, then keep up the studies!

TRAVELLING

What's the best way to get to campus from the Central/northeast?

I advise you to stay in hall if you could cause it's at the very least a 1.5 hour journey. The best way is via NEL if you are along the purple line if you stay near to NEL (To serangoon pple: nel is faster than the red line), 157 from toapayoh to boonlay is not worth it. Anyway, train is faster than bus if you stay any further than bukit batok or something.

Infamous for his over emphasized, clear and motivational ‘talks’, this visionary also has the biggest dreams and elaborate ideas. Plans so big only The SWL’s* can execute. However, beneath all those dreams lie his (not so) secret desire to… be cheesy. Most used catchphrase: "Okay, no issue."

* SWL: Slaves of Weiliang. The association works on a 5 point star system based on how much saikang you complete. 5 stars = ultimate saikang warrior. 1 star = you should do be doing more saikang!

Junqi – THE MULTITASKER

Weiliang’s right hand woman, Junqi has the ability to take on different identities at the same time. Mildly obsessed with her hamsters. When not multitasking, Junqi maybe caught frolicking around with her retro *insert yogi bear voice* picnic basket.

Angeline (Head) – THE INDEPENDENT WOMAN

Two words: The Glare. A glare so piercing you don’t know whether you should laugh or cry. Even the manliest guys in school (although these are few and far between) are afraid of her. Able to stare her point across, Angeline always makes herself heard but she's not all talk, Angeline is always true to her words.

Sarah – THE OPERATOR

Three apples tall and cute as hell, Sarah is the fun-sized one with very resourceful friends and a cool attitude. Always camping till the wee hours at night, she is unafraid of no ghost. Don't let her tiny frame deceive you, she used to be a national squash player.

Nurbaya – THE BURPER

Don’t mess up her game plan or she’ll burp (really loudly) at you. She can out-burp anyone male or female any time. If you don’t offend her, Baya is a fun loving girl who loves the beach.[Ed. So what happens if you do offend her..? =x]

Becky – THE YELLOW POTATO

This programmer is a girl with a big personality and big sunglasses. Becky is friendly and open to talk about anything (except in Chinese), all the time. Her Chinese is really bad, really.

Joanne – THE BEAUTY QUEEN

Exactly like a teenage beauty queen, Joanne is pretty, always has a friendly smile, can act, loves children, saves gaia and can’t pronounce ‘bombs’.
